The situational motivation scale in the exercise context: Construct validity, factor structure, and correlational analysis

The purpose of this study was to: a) translate and adapt the Situational Motivational Scale (SIMS) in a sample Portuguese exercisers examine factor structure scale; b) evaluate discriminant validity internal consistency factors, as way to determine multidimensionality. Additionally, we sought correlational scale by examining exerciser motivation on enjoyment exercise participation. Participants were 264 (female = 157) aged between 18 69 years, with mean experience 5.73 years. Exercisers completed multi-section survey assessing their situational towards exercising. Several model specifications tested, namely confirmatory exploratory models. results research support all three hypotheses: (i) that translation item adaptation done correctly, measurement showed acceptable fit data; (ii) factors well consistency; (iii) exercisers’ frequency.
